Transformers
April 12, 2007
I watched the Transformers cartoon in the mornings before catching the bus to go to school. I like transformers, I haven’t followed any of the story lines or payed much attention to them since I was a kid. Anyway… I went to the movies the other day and during the previews, there was this one where a giant bug looking thing was jumping around. I thought to myself, “You know what would be cool? A Transformers movie”. But, sigh~ The giant bug looking thing preview WAS the Transformers movie! I’m so disappointed. Did I mention, that the movie looked seriously LAME? Yeah, it looked extra, extra lame, with a giant poo on top.
Pinky:ST meet Ace & Ion
April 8, 2007
Pinky:St are Japanese dolls/figures that you can interchange parts to create new looks. They are cute, cool, and very fashionable. Plus there aren’t real expensive so that’s always a plus!
Ace & Ion are fuzzy covered vinyl figures from kidrobot which were designed by Tara McPherson. After openingAce & Ion I thought they looked a little like pinky:st figures and they could play together.
Of course the pinkys and the Ace & Ion were bought @ www.freebento.com
Tara McPherson has a website @ www.taramcpherson.com
CPM is having issues…
April 5, 2007
Central Park Media, when it comes to manga has always kind of sucked. They’ve published some decent titles… Well, the first 2-3 volumes of a title and then stop (Full House & Couple to name a couple). They were having problems with shoujo titles and now it seems they are having issues with BL titles. The other I think was internal garbage, this is copyright violations. The charge comes from B-Boy magazine. Here’s the translation from b-boy’s site.
“About the translation publication from the Central Park Media corporation Usually you regularly reading our company publication, thank you truly. Well, at our company, trust is received from each teachers, the business which permits the translation publication of our company publication vis-a-vis the publisher of the foreign country, is done. This each time, in the United States of America, the Central Park Media corporation (label name: Be Beautiful) The empty, translation edition of several works is published, or it seems that becomes publication schedule. But, these translation editions are the illegal publication which does not obtain the permission of our company. It is the circumstance where also the teachers who have met to damage have been bothered very much. That the publication of this kind of illegal translation edition is discontinued vis-a-vis the same company, we protest strongly from our company. Being placed on everyone of the reader, as for purchase of this kind of illegal translation edition the refrainment we would like to receive, ask. リブレ publication corporation”
I think CPM has gone beyond lame. I’m going to avoid buying ANY of their products, not just BL titles. ~Sigh ~
Hell Girl Toys!
April 1, 2007
My favorite toy store is freebento.com and they have figures from Jigoku Shōjo (地獄少女), aka “Hell Girl”
Enma Ai is the Hell Girl and she allows people to have their vengances, for a price. Sort of like Anya, the vengance demon on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
freebento has 2 figures on of Enma Ai in her innocent looking schoolgirl uniform and another in her traditional kimono. Neither figure has any articulation, but they really aren’t for playing with but are small affordable art pieces to make your home more beautiful, and to show off your love for all things Japanese.
